All vehicles must meet minimum safety guidelines. It is a legal requirement to hold a valid MOT certificate to prove they are roadworthy and meet specific minimum safety guidelines. Failure to do so may invalidate your insurance and you will be liable to a fine.

The MOT is a test set by the Ministry of Transport and is the same test, per class, country-wide. The vehicle you have determines the level of test you need.

Class 4 MOT = Cars and vehicles with up to 8 seats

Class 5 MOT includes private passenger vehicles with 13 or more seats, minibuses and ambulances

Class 7 applies to commercial vehicles with a gross weight of between 3,000kg and 3,500kg – such as larger vans
